deanmass
i have been interested in purchasing a Bouzouki, either 4 course or 5 course. I have looked at the lower end Trinity College model, a Weber, a couple couple Freshwaters, and a Peterson. I liked the Freshwater, but have heard bad things about the overall build quality. From the same shop, which sells both, I heard very positive things about the Trinity College model. Basically, I want it for my own entertainment, to pick out some celtic tunes, and possible occassional solo accompaniment. I was looking to spend under $1000. Thoughts folks? Tedster
A cool instrument. I know nothing, other than I believe that was what was used on Lennon's tune "Girl" (Revolver) on the solo, and Cat Stevens used one on occasion. Have fun! deanmass
Ted, there was a band in KC called Scartaglen, who had Connie Dover as a singer. Roger Landes was there Bouzouki player....Lived near me in Weston...His solo CD is good stuff, as are Connies and Scartaglens repectively. I am amazed these are not more popular...there are essentially octave mandolins...They have such a cool tone....and are much easier to fret to my fat fingers than a mondolin...
